explicitly warned against reliance upon “authority,”

graffiti-everything_00260331

We insist from the beginning on the individual character of the work, and upon the necessity of maintaining the objective and skeptical standpoint. You are explicitly warned against reliance upon “authority,” even that of the Order itself. Consider my own assets, personal, social, educational, experiential and the rest: don’t you see that all I had to do was to put out some brightly-coloured and mellifluous lie, and avoid treading on too many toes, to have had hundreds of thousands of idiots worshiping me?

The Abbey of Thelema – 1920 – A fresh start in the digital realm?

The Abbey of Thelema

The Abbey of Thelema

Recently, on the LAShTAL.com forums a request was made for the actual dimensions of the Abbey of Thelema in Cefalu, Italy. This simple request for information prompted me to use my skills and experience and attempt to record the Abbey’s particulars into as complete a set of plans, if I could. The shell of the building has been confirmed and agreed, with Abbey researcher exemplars as Richard T Cole, Anna Apostolidou and other regulars on the LAShTAL Forums, who have an in-depth knowledge of the building. The result is the .pdf contained within this post. It includes floor plans, elevations and a section, along with a few images and a blog piece from Latetitia on http://www.atlasobscura.com/places/aleister-crowley-s-thelema-abbey.

The second stage of the process involves creating a shell of the Abbey in 3D software, then attempting to render it with the murals etc.

Having secured the assistance of a visualization expert, that I have personally worked alongside the last 15 years, I do have hopes that the resulting model, will portray the Abbey of Thelema as accurately as can be established, when in use by Crowley, in 1920-1923.

It is well documented the images that it contained. Details or photos of them though in their entirety, are scarce

The Abbey of Thelema refers to a small house which was used as a temple and spiritual center founded by Aleister Crowley and Leah Hirsig in Cefalù, Sicily in 1920.

The thing is, the Abbey now looks like it’s barely holding together. Many murals, paintings and sketches, carried out by Aleister Crowley’s and others own hands will never see the light of day. Parts of them have, they were revealed in part by Kenneth Anger’s trip there in 1955.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Without access to the actual blue prints of the original building, it is extremely difficult to try and assess the actual structure.
Also, having not physically been to the Abbey and surveyed the building personally, dimensions, heights and layout are based on Richard T Coles
detailed analysis that is included in his “Thelema Revisited – The search for Aleister Crowley” publication. Richard has been invaluable in this project.

If you have any further information in regards to the actual layout, structure etc please email me

.

The next stage of the project is to create a 3D walk through. Initially it will be a shell but with analysis of each room and photos of the murals, I may be able to render them as best I can. If you have high quality images of the murals, then please forward them to me for inclusion at the email address above.

Freedom is a two-edged sword….

freedom

Freedom is a two-edged sword of which one edge is liberty and the other, responsibility.

Both edges are exceedingly sharp and the weapon is not suited to casual, cowardly or

treacherous hands.

Since all tyrannies are based on dogma and since all dogmas are based on lies, it

behooves us to look beyond them for truth and freedom will both be far away. And yet

the Truth is that we know nothing…

How to Meditate…..

Meditation, something I have done in various forms but the basic principles remain the same and are easy to do but hard to stick with at the outset. It does get better with practice tho so don’t give up easy is my advice. It’s your body, so master it! 🙂

I first started meditating by myself 6 years ago and read the instructions from “Book 4” and “8 Lectures on Yoga” by Aleister Crowley.  These books attempted to lay it out simplistically  for the western mind to grasp more comfortably then being bombarded by Sanskrit and Eastern mysticism. They probably where the first real documented guides on the subject of Yoga back when they were published in 1912 or so. For me, they worked extremely efficiently.Taking these basic principles and making a diary of results helped me greatly to understand what worked best for me.

After a period of time I become more proficient and the benefits certainly are vast. Calmness with inner peace, overflowing of love for nature and everything that exists and mindfulness. This from maybe just 45mins per day in two sittings. So I recommend it if you suffer the likes of panic attacks, uncertainty, stress, depression etc etc. It is so cheap to do its free, no need to buy expensive video guides or books, or even go to a class. Follow the basic rules and you are on your way.

A couple of years ago I went to  Buddhist meditation evening classes and it transpired that the very same techniques that I had learnt from the above books are exactly what they were teaching me again. It sort of validated for me the accuracy of the books and their effectiveness.

The basics are contained in the article that I have linked below. Go on, even just try it the once and give you brain some time off. Normally it does not get the opportunity, even when sleeping. It needs a holiday too! Good luck!

The price of happiness…. what cost?

For most people out there its all about what you can get… that new handbag, those pair of Jeans, that iPad etc etc… Really what is happening is that you are being played by the consumer system and gullible you bought into it. These items don’t magickcally make your life better and then result in everything being perfect, they only make you feel good for a brief amount of time. Real happiness comes from within, accepting and acknowledging yourself for who you are. That’s what really matters. That’s what stays with you for ever.

So the choice you have to make is simple…. keep reading the celeb magazine garbage and trashy newspapers about people who are completely superficial and even with all their money just want to be loved or you could do something for yourself. Find or what makes you happy, deep down within yourself and realize that all that glitters is not gold and that the real truth is that you must love yourself.

So click the link below and read some more if you really want to discover happiness.

Happiness is only a click away.

This is the end… beautiful friend the end……

Tomorrrow is the end of the World!

21st of May 2011….. yeah right… another religious prediction in order to scare more gullible people into a churches flock in my opinion.

Camping believes the rapture will occur May 21 and that God will destroy the earth on October 21. Yeah right!

Be true to yourself!

Its a slow burn but rather than saying what people want to hear, be true and honest to yourself and the rewards will be greater. Once you start making concessions to suit others you lose yourself. Read this short article below for more details.

Be honest!

Dalai Lama’s 18 Rules for Living

Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

  1. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
  2. Follow the three Rs:
    • Respect for self
    • Respect for others
    • Responsibility for all your actions.
  3. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
  4. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
  5. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  6. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  7. Spend some time alone every day.
  8. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
  9. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  10. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
  11. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
  12. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
  13. Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
  14. Be gentle with the earth.
  15. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
  16. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
  17. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
